Professionals  must stay abreast of a range of developments in the field.  They must track emerging research; reports on findings in the Brain Sciences; policy trends that affect service delivery; feedback from those seeking help with their recovery.  This section will work to support professionals in keeping current--both with findings developed at Touchstone innovaré and in the wider behavioral health field.

Materials will be updated regularly.  We also ask that you review the Professional Newsletter both Current and Archives), the areas on Research at Ti, and the various Links we have found helpful.

Recovery

Recovery may mean different things to different people.  However, there is a growing recognition that recovery should be the goal--and pledge--of community behavioral healthcare.  This section  will join the dialogue on recovery: what it means; how it happens; what it looks like when achieved.

Recovery Elements

Describing the "pieces and parts" of recovery often requires a functional approach that changes over time in the face of continuing feedback from research, practice experience, and consumer discussions. We present some contributions to this "functional description."

Disease Management

General healthcare has moved beyond managed care to form powerful approaches that target chronic care management.  It recognized that much of healthcare of necessity deals with chronic disease states; that multiple interventions must be braided into a unified approach to treatment;  that self-management by patients of their illnesses must become central to success; and that close and continuing evaluation of treatment efficacy must be integrated into everyday medicine.  This section will offer information on disease management approaches in general.

Evidence-Based Practices

The field of behavioral healthcare is moving to using evidence-based practices (EBPs) as THE standard of care. Touchstone innovaré has taken this shift (particularly recovery and disease management findings in healthcare) to heart.  It has, through "real world" field studies, crafted a unified approach to serious mental illness which it has termed Community Treatment and Rehabilitation (CT&R). This section will provide resources to professionals in the area of EBPs.
